Volunteering
Over the years, we have set up an incredible 60+ volunteering projects for students to get involved with, as Project Leaders or volunteers. Over half of these are currently active and have continued over the pandemic, carrying out great work to support the local community and environment. We are proud to say that the majority of our projects are student-led with 500+ students taking part in volunteering activities just last year! We guarantee we have something for you, with projects ranging across 8 key themes: environmental, community, elderly, kids, sports, campaigns and events, mental health and fundraising.
70th Year Anniversary
Did you know that students have now been volunteering at Undeb Bangor for over 70 years?! To celebrate the incredible work of our volunteers and the links our students have built with individuals and organisations in the local community over the years, we organised a volunteering extravaganza in December 2022. invited members of the community, had afternoon tea, listened to some music and played some Bingo! The Tea Party Project hosts tea parties twice a year and students can give back to the community.
Residential trip for our Project Leaders
Last year, we celebrated our Project Leaders’ contributions with an all-expenses paid Volunteering Residential; a weekend for volunteers to connect and strengthen relationships across projects, feedback on their experiences and most importantly enjoy an action-packed weekend of kayaking, sea level traversing and abseiling!
Could this benefit you as a Project Leader? 88% who attended our residential in March 2022 said it increased the feeling of togetherness and community among volunteers and an equal amount felt they had gained new skills or improved existing ones through the residential. Join us this year and help us build on this success.
This event will be first come first served and spaces will be open to Project Leaders as a priority-keep a lookout and reserve your spot!
Volunteering Week
Every Year, our student-led volunteering projects organise and host events across the first week of February for Volunteering Week. Last year, students helped organise a range of activities from building houses for Hedgehogs with Hedgehog Friendly, planting apple trees at the Donkey Sanctuary, hosting beach cleans and offering first aid sessions for students. The week is a great opportunity for Project Leaders to showcase their projects’ work and for students interested in volunteering to give something new a go or meet new people!
