About Us
What is a Student Union? The Students’ Union is the voice of the Students and the home of student life at Bangor! We are Undeb Bangor. ‘Undeb’ means union in Welsh; we call ourselves Undeb Bangor as we are very proud of our Welsh roots. Your student union is for all Bangor students led by elected student representatives working to enrich and enhance your student experience. We have a team of dedicated elected Sabbatical Officers (Sabbs) who work to ensure your voice is heard and that the kind of activities that are needed are being developed. Supporting the Sabbatical Officers are the Students’ Union professional staff, an experienced team supporting the delivery of campaigns and enacting the policies of the Sabbs, working together with the University to better the student experience of all students!
We run the Sports Clubs, Societies, Volunteering Projects, UMCB (Welsh Union), Undeb Bangor Course Reps and our Networks and Student Forum. We have numerous opportunities for you to find a new hobby, to meet likeminded individuals, improve your employability and make a difference. If there’s anything you want or think needs to change, we’re here to listen to and support you, so get in touch.
If you would like to join one of our amazing societies, there is a £10 flat fee, which covers you for the year and gives you unlimited access to all our societies. This fee also includes insurance, access to grants, staff support, training courses, SU vehicles, and so much more! You can see the full list here:
There are two tiers for sports membership: Silver and Gold.
- Silver membership costs £50 per year.
- Gold membership costs £100 per year and is required if you want to compete in BUCS.
Both passes allow you to compete in Varsity, apply for club grants, and access term-time training facilities—plus much more! You can see the full details and membership models here:
