It’s the start of a new year so we’re recruiting Course Representatives again.  

Course reps gather feedback from students and represent their fellow students on academic matters They work with staff in their schools and with the Students’ Union to make positive changes, and generally improve the educational experience for students at Bangor.  

 

Here are 5 reasons why you should sign up to be a course rep this year.  

 

1. Make change on your course 

Do you have a great idea for your course, or have you seen something that needs to be improved?  

You’ll have regular meetings with other reps and staff in your school where you can raise issues, thoughts and ideas, and make the changes that you want to see. You’ll also have the opportunity to work with Undeb Bangor on larger campaigns that affect the wider academic experience.  

Examples of previous changes include new optional modules, trips abroad, deadline changes, more lecture recordings, and undergraduate common rooms, to name just a few! 

 

2. Be part of a community 

There are over 300 course reps at Bangor! As well as working closely with the other reps in your school, we offer loads of opportunities throughout the year for you to get together with other reps through teambuilding days, socials and our Course Rep Conference! 

 

3. Looks great on your CV 

As a rep you’ll gain loads of important skills, through speaking to students, attending meetings and working with other reps.  

We offer training and skills sessions for all our reps so that you can build on these skills, as well as employability sessions so you can really make the most of your experience in your CV. 

 

4. Organise your own events 

We can provide funding and one to one support for you to organise events for students on your course.  

Reps in the past have organised everything from film nights to pizza parties to Christmas balls… you can be as creative as you like! 

 

5. Free dinner and awards evening! 

Every year we host an awards evening to celebrate the amazing work of our course reps and staff! All reps are invited to attend and enjoy a free three course dinner.  

As well as each rep being formally recognised with a certificate, there are 5 course rep awards up for grabs, including one £1000 prize!
