On the 13th of December 2024, all staff at Undeb Bangor took part in Autism Awareness Training. This was provided by Undeb Bangorโs fantastic society, Unite, which has been working closely with teams within the union to make events more accessible. These improvements include the changes made to Serendipity this year, such as the accessibility guide, adjusted lighting, quiet room, and much more. These efforts were designed to ensure that events are as inclusive as possible.
The training provided staff with insights into what living with autism is like, particularly in the context of events and activities that the union organises. Staff learned more about how autism can affect individuals differently and how to provide better support to neurodivergent people. Interactive tasks helped staff understand how to assist individuals experiencing overwhelm.

Undeb Bangor would like to thank Unite for taking the time to deliver this valuable training. It has been extremely beneficial in helping staff improve their understanding and practices.
