So much has happened over the past couple of weeks that we just had to include an article to look back on it all. This year we hosted our most highly attended Serendipity ever, and we hope you all thoroughly enjoyed it!
A huge congratulations to all the teams and individuals who took part in Movemberโtogether, you raised an incredible ยฃ15,817! That is absolutely amazing, and you all looked fantastic with your moustaches! Movember was set up to raise awareness and funds for menโs health, specifically prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. Alongside this, our Sabbs, Mya and Hollie, launched their Mental Health Campaign, promoting the 111 option 2 service. There were a variety of events, ranging from craft sessions to mindfulness workshops. Over the coming weeks, we will be launching the next step of this campaign, encouraging everyone to check in with their matesโso stay tuned!
On 21st November, we held our Cultural Festival in PJ Hall, featuring 17 stalls hosted by our groups and societies, all coming together to share their culture. This year, we were delighted to welcome UMCB, the Welsh students' union, alongside fantastic performances on the main stage, including martial arts demonstrations and a show by K-Dragons. A big thank you to everyone who participated and attendedโit was a wonderful evening filled with delicious food and cultural celebration!
On 3rd December, we brought back our Reclaim the Night March, a stand against sexual misconduct and spiking. We were absolutely blown away by the turnoutโover 70 of you marched down Bangor High Street to stand for what you believe in. In the lead-up to the march, we also hosted placard-making sessions.
The events donโt stop there! We have a special Christmas meal coming up on 11th December, and you can book your place here: Christmas Meal Booking.
Our Sabbs have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to improve your student experience and champion the issues that matter most to you.
In the new year, Serendipity 2 will be back on 29th January, and the Sabbatical Officer elections will be opening soon after.
Oh, and did someone mention Varsity...?
Have a wonderful Christmas, and weโll see you next year!
