Our Go Fairtrade Project is a campaign project, which aims to raise awareness and educate students, university staff and our local community on Fairtrade and small actions they can take to support small-scale farmers in developing countries.
The project was awarded a grant in 2024 to support project activities, which currently include:
- Delivering fun and creative sessions in primary schools to raise awareness of Fairtrade among our local youth population. Exact dates and timings of sessions in schools to be confirmed (taking place February/March)
- Promoting Fairtrade products from Africa. The project has a particular interest in supporting farmers in Malawi by promoting Fairtrade products sold by farmers and co-operatives with students, staff and out local community. Malawi is one of the poorest countries in Africa and the impact of the recent Cyclone Freddy has been devastatingl floods have washed away crops, over 500,000 people have been displaced and hundreds lost their lives.
Volunteer with Go Fairtrade, get involved in a capacity that interests you and gain valuable campaign and educational experience.
