Welcome to Bangor University Surf Team (BUST)!

Whether you have been shredding it down the line since you were a little grom, or you’ve never thrown a shaka 🤙 before, the BUST family welcome you with open arms! Every week we cruise on down to local surfing spots, such as Rhosneigr beach on Anglesey. Here you’ll have the opportunity to partake in surf lessons or shred it with the more experienced surfers out in the line-up. Both transport and surf equipment are provided so all you have to do is turn up, we’ll do the rest!  

This year we’re running trips to Surf Snowdonia when the waves just aren’t cutting it at Rhosneigr. This gives members of the BUST family the opportunity to surf the UK’s first ever wave pool! Mid-way through October we head down to Newquay to compete in the BUCS competition. Members can choose to compete or spectate and support those who are, before we head into town for a bounce and boogie! This weekend trip away is the raddest opportunity to get involved with the club and to get to know our members!

As a part of the surfing community, we like to show our respect for the incredible beaches we visit by taking part in beach cleans. We’re running regular beach cleans every week with our brand new beach cleaning equipment from Surfers Against Sewage!

Aside from the surfing, BUST certainly knows how to have a radical time! With our weird-and-wonderful combination of personalities, we like to let loose at our regular fancy dress socials and mind-blowing parties! If you want to make the absolute most of your social life in Bangor, BUST is where you want to be for sure!

In Easter we head down to Lost Cove surf festival to cut some serious shapes on the dance floor, and in the water. On top of this, we go on summer trips to a variety of destinations. A club favourite being Portugal with the gnarliest waves in Europe!
