Column Warden at the Anglesey Column

Details Hide[-]

About the role

The role of Column warden mainly involves controlling the flow of visitors up and down the Column. It is important that wardens are responsible and are able to adhere to health and safety procedures (necessary induction, training, and equipment will be provided). Wardens should have a positive, welcoming attitude to ensure that visitors enjoy their experience. A keen interest in history, art, and architecture would be desirable since visitors often want to ask questions about the site. Due to the presence of Blueschist on-site, this role may also be of interest to geologists, and we often welcome geology groups for visits.

Why volunteer with us?
By joining us you will gain work experience, engage with the community, spend your free time doing something worthwhile, learn new skills, expand your CV and become more employable, make new social connections, and be a part of an ionic piece of Anglesey’s history.

Times and commitment required
We are committed to providing a thankful and appreciative approach to volunteering. We will support individuals who want to volunteer between a minimum of 2 hours up to full time hours providing they are committed to supporting our worthwhile cause. The usual shift pattern for volunteers is 4 hours in the morning or afternoon (9am-1pm or 1pm-5pm). We ask that you volunteer one weekend shift a month alongside your other hours. Our needs will be determined by seasonal popularity, so please discuss this further with the Volunteer Officer at the time of application. Every hour of support will make a difference.
